This project considers what historic narratives we recognize in the public realm, and how we chose to preserve them. The work references the burning (for training purposes) of the historic Brighouse homestead, exploring the significance of this approach to history, and symbolism of the event. The installation creates a space for gathering in the ashes of this significant event. Benches are oriented around the hearth, providing a welcoming invitation intended to promote open dialogue and exchange of ideas.
